If you enjoy spending time with your dog, love music, like to performing, and just love having fun...Canine Freestyle is for you. Canine Freestyle takes obedience training to
a whole new level by combining the traditional obedience moves and a few tricks with choreographed moves set to music. Canine Freestyle provides opportunities for community
service and national competitions. Bring your dog, your favorite music, your creativity and get ready to have fun with Canine Freestyle. It's dancing with your dog...and a
whole lot more!
In Canine Freestyle 4-H'ers use their HEADS for creative moves, their HEARTS for loving performance,
their HANDS for guiding their dogs,
and their HEALTH for better showmanship.
Canine Freestyle is like dog obedience moves, plus a few tricks, set to music. Sound like fun? Canine Freestyle develops an even deeper bond between dog and handler. This event is
designed around the personality and strengths of the dog and the creativity of the handler.
Canine Freestyle offers competitive opportunities on a national level for both juniors and adults. This sport develops self-confidence, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and
self-control in the 4-H'er. Many Canine Freestyle teams use their programs as part of community service projects when visiting nursing homes, schools, service clubs, and at
community events.
Canine Freestyle takes over where traditional obedience ends by taking what the dog and handler have learned to a whole new level. An artistic element of choregraphy and the addition
of music adds originality and creativity to this fast growing canine sport. Another aspect of Canine Freestyle is the Doggie Drillteam which combines multiple dog and handler teams
in choreographed moves set to music. Visit our Doggie Drillteam area for more information.
