Rally-O

Rally-O is a relaxed form of obedience competition that is the perfect beginning canine sport for 4-H'ers. After basic obedience moves and directions are mastered, they can be put to good use in Rally-O. Rally-O competitions are held throughout the United States and offer 4-H'ers the ability to compete against other juniors.

In Rally-O 4-H'ers use their HEADS for quick thinking, their HEARTS for patience, their HANDS for direction, and their HEALTH for great performance.

Rally-O is a more relaxed, fun version of obedience competition for juniors and adults. In Rally-O a course is designed in which the dog and handler team must work their way through the course. Ten to twenty stations are layed out through the course. Each station has a sign that details an obedience move to be performed. Scoring is more relaxed and not as rigorous as in traditional obedience competitions.

Rally-O builds on the relationship between dog and handler and develops a sense of teamwork. Communication without limits can be used in Rally-O and is not penalized as it is in traditional obedience.

Rally-O is a canine sport that promotes fun and enjoyment in training and competition for both dog and handler. Rally-O is a perfect bridge between basic obedience and the AKC Canine Good Citizen program to traditional obedience competition, agility, canine freestyle and therapy dog work.

To compete in Rally-O, a dog must be at least 6 months of age and registered with the AKC or listed with the AKC purebred Alternative Listing (PAL/ILP) program. For more information on Rally-O visit the AKC Rally-O.
